Great ideas for old baby food jars

I did not have the heart to throw away old jars of baby food!  So I have a large box full of old Gerber and Earth's Best baby food jar tucked under our bed. I think there's about fifty pieces under there.

I'm really convincing myself that i'll have the time and the skills to actually reuse or recycle or re purpose them so i won't have to throw them away. Maybe that's the pack rat in me.

I used to store homemade baby food in them. But since my 19-month old does not eat baby food anymore, i had to tuck them away to declutter the pantry.

Thanks to Pinterest, i'm getting inspiration and ideas to turn them into something cute and useful. Here's what i'm liking so far.

Clip holders

Organize your office desk by keeping clips, staple wires and pins in them.

Container for sewing stuff

Keep loose buttons  in one place along with the needles. It can save time when you need to do some emergency sewing if they're in one place.

Here's another cool idea how to organize the sewing stuff! You'll need some screws to install it under a ledge.

DIY spice rack

The husband is into gardening and we recently harvested chillis! He dried them up, grinded them and stored in one of the jars.  I'll do this with herbs too! Glass jars are better spice containers than plastic ones. Who wouldn't want a spice rack with such wide variety! I hope he grows enough for a medium sized spice rack.

Keep the bottles in a drawer

Or keep them within arms length as a wall installation!

A little more creativity can really spruce up a boring table.  Just be careful and watch the fire.

Party favors

On the next baby shower for a friend, i'll use it as storage for the knick knacks. I wonder who among my friends will get knocked up next. haha

Please do give your old jars a second chance! Not only will you save money, you'll also do Mother Nature a favor if you just hold on to these jars.
